A charismatic and great band straight from Cuba!
Pancho Amat, the great Tres-Cubano Grandmaster said, “The fact that Yarima Blanco a woman is, may detract some people from how great her talent at the tres playing actually is. Yes, she is one of the first female tres players who made it to the international stages, but my focus is on the quality of her skill. It doesn’t matter to me whether the player a female or male is. Yarima Blanco has an exceptional talent on the matter!” Yarima´s Blanco, while studied at the music university in Cuba, impress more than one of her colleagues students and professors as well, with her skills at playing the tres cubano. She quickly made a career with her instrument, and was always glad when she was invited to well-known music projects from other artists. Good example of this was the invitation to be part of Cuban only female orchestra, “Anacaona”, were she played with for ten years and attracted the attention of the international jazz and world music scene. In 2015 she founded her own septet “Son Latino”, in which she combines several Cuban styles, with a range of Latin American influences. She has also taken on the role of front woman and singer. The audience loves her charismatic voice and her „go for it“ stage character. Her show is developed in the typical Cuban style with a lot of danceable joy of playing. Her repertoire is composed of own compositions as well as well known Cuban music hits. Yarima Blanco is – La tresera de Cuba!
